Believe in Love

Do you believe in love? I do. I believe in many forms of love.

A flight of passion; an undercurrent at the ankles, pull you under, lost in the warmth of a beloved kind of love. A constant question of what did we do to deserve this kind of love. A knowledge of quirks, ticks, how to make you smile kind of love. A blanket, a catapult, a home, a friend, a rock, a light, a one way ticket. A love that’s been waiting all along kind of love. A love that’s ready to dance to a song that never ends.

I believe in all this because I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’ve felt it in my bones even when it wasn’t my kind of love. The greatest joy of this job is discovering new ways we express the foundation of humanity; love.

On average I take 2500 photos on a wedding day. Pare that down to about 700 that are delivered in an online gallery, then 80 go into a physical album. If one photo is worth a thousand words, how many does it take to tell a story? We’ve picked just under 100 photos to try and sum up the 23 love stories we witnessed in 2018.

For this selection, we chose a few directed portraits and sprinkled in some detail shots, but the bulk of what you see were all candid moments. Real, unscripted, pure emotion. Each photo a real moment in time, in such a way that, maybe, you just might even feel right there with these total strangers on an intimate day of their lives.
