Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your photography style?

Documentary, empathetic, and non-intrusive. Sometimes I need to be right in the middle of the action, but I know when to take a step back and go incognito. For portraits, I’ll scout the best light + locations and give you natural directions on what to do.

How will you make us feel comfortable on camera?

This is a hard one to answer. You’re just gonna have to trust me. It comes down to the way I genuinely care about my couples and get to know you as humans. Nearly all of the couples I work with aren’t used to being on camera, so if you don’t think any of them look awkward, you won’t either. Just have fun!

Do you shoot film?

I love working with film. Let's talk about how we can incorporate it into your wedding!

How and when will we receive our images?

You’ll receive your photos in an online gallery 6-8 weeks after the wedding. All of the high resolution edited images are yours to keep, download, and share. We do NOT offer USBs because otherwise we’d have to charge you 8.875% NYS tax (save that for the honeymoon).

How many images will we receive?

Enough to tell your whole story! The number varies depending how much is going on and if you have a second shooter, but approximately 60-100 photos per hour.

Can we see ALL of the images you shot or have access to the raw files?

No. I promise you will receive all of the photos worth seeing. I do not release raw files.

Do you offer prints and albums?

Yes! You will be able to order directly from your gallery.

Can you help us with our timeline?

Yes, absolutely! I will send you a wedding questionnaire for all the logistics and provide input to maximize our photo time efficiently.

What are your rates?

Please email me to receive detailed pricing. There's no one size fits all. It's difficult to give an accurate quote until I know more about the details of your wedding, but on average my couples spend $4500 - $8000 on their photography. Elopements average around $1250.

Do we have to do an engagement session?

Engagement photos make me cringe as much as they do you. But this is all part of the process of getting to know each other! We can start right on your couch (just like the Obamas!) then venture out to your neighborhood or special places. Most couples invite me into their home or out to their favorite spot, then give a little tour down memory lane of their relationship. We'll take some photos along the way and help you get used being photographed so you feel like naturals on the wedding day.

Do we need a second shooter?

I recommend a second photographer if there will be more than 80 guests, if you aren’t seeing each other before the ceremony, or if there are many details to be photographed.

What equipment do you work with?

Two Canon 5D Mark IV cameras with all L-series prime lenses for fast shooting in low light. The optional film kit includes a variety of 120mm, 35mm, Polaroids, and instant film cameras.

Is there a travel fee?

I am so lucky that couples all over the world want me to tell their story! If your wedding is outside New York City, I just ask for a travel fee to help cover any applicable car rental, gas, tolls, flights, and lodging for the weekend. I will research costs for your area & provide an estimate for you.

Can you provide our venue with a certificate of insurance?

Yes, my general liability insurance covers up to $2M per occurrence / $4M aggregate, and all of my gear is insured.

Okay we're ready! How do we book?

To officially secure your date, a signed contract and 50% retainer fee are required. The remainder is due 30 days prior to the wedding. Dates are first come, first serve.
