Frequently Asked Questions
How would you describe your photography style?
Documentary, empathetic, and non-intrusive. Sometimes I need to be right in the middle of the action, but I know when to take a step back and go incognito. For portraits, I’ll scout the best light & locations and give you natural directions on what to do. The rest of the time, I'm capturing candids and moments you might not see.
How will you make us feel comfortable on camera?
This is a hard one to answer. You’re just gonna have to trust me. It comes down to the way I genuinely care about my couples and get to know you as real humans with a unique love story to tell.
Nearly all of the couples I work with aren’t used to being on camera, so if you don’t think anyone in my photos looks awkward, you won’t either. Just have fun!
Do you shoot film?
I love working with film. Let's talk about how we can incorporate it into your wedding!
How much time do we need for photos?
No one wants to miss the party or spend all day taking photos, am I right? I'll work with you on creating a photo timeline so that we have enough time for portraits, family, and wedding party photos. Most weddings are fully covered with 8 - 10 hours.
How and when will we receive our images?
You’ll receive your photos in an online gallery 8 weeks after the wedding. All of the high resolution edited images are yours to keep, download, and share. We do NOT offer USBs because otherwise we’d have to charge you 8.875% NYS tax (save that for the disco ball fund).
How many images will we receive?
I believe in quality over quantity and telling your story as fully as possible. Each wedding day is different, but you can expect 50 - 100 photos per hour depending on the size of your wedding and if you have a second shooter.
Can we see ALL of the images you shot or have access to the raw files?
No. I promise you will receive all of the photos worth seeing. I do not release raw files.
Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes! You and your guests will be able to order directly from your personalized gallery.
What are your rates?
Please email me to receive detailed pricing. There's no one size fits all. It's difficult to give an accurate quote until I know more about the details of your wedding and needs, but you can expect to invest $4800 - $12,000 on your total photography package. Elopements start at $1250.
What qualifies as an elopement?
There's nothing like the energy of an elopement! Whether you are getting married at City Hall or in a special location, elopement coverage is available for celebrations with fewer than 25 guests and up to 4 hours of coverage on a weekday. Weekends are subject to availability and a minimum rate.
Do we have to do an engagement session?
Engagement photos make me cringe as much as they do you. But this is all part of the process of getting to know each other! We can start right on your couch (just like the Obamas!) then venture out to your neighborhood or special places. Most couples invite me into their home or out to their favorite spot, then give a little tour down memory lane of their relationship. We'll take some photos along the way and help you get used being photographed so we aren't strangers on the wedding day.
Do we need a second shooter?
I recommend a second photographer if there will be more than 80 guests, if you aren’t seeing each other before the ceremony, or if there are many details to be photographed.
What equipment do you work with?
You will see me carrying two Canon 5D Mark IV cameras with all L-series prime lenses which allows me to shoot quickly, capture every moment, and excel in low light situations. The optional film kit includes a variety of 120mm, 35mm, Polaroids, and instant film cameras.
Is there a travel fee?
I am so lucky that couples all over the world want me to tell their story! If your wedding is outside New York City, the quote you receive will include all travel fees.
Can you provide our venue with a certificate of insurance?
Yes, my general liability insurance covers up to $2M per occurrence / $4M aggregate, and all of my gear is insured.
Okay we're ready! What's our next step?
Next step is to email me to get the conversation started. Tell me your story, then I'll send you a quote. To officially secure your date, a signed contract and 50% retainer fee are required. The remainder is due 30 days prior to the wedding. Dates are first come, first serve.
